By making lots and lots of compost, PISCES helps add carbon and organic matter to the soil. This promotes water retention and provides food for beneficial soil microbes. This in turn leads to stronger plants, healthier food, and larger yields!
The beginning of a large compost pile with lots of dried grasses. When the rains come this will quickly decompose to create rich humus.
Layers of soil added to promote beneficial microbe growth.
Making compost can be hard work but it is one of the best ways to sustainably improve the soil.
